Senior Environmental Scientist

Full-time position

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our innovative and diverse team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience and hold an advanced degree, but we will consider others with the right combination of education and experiences. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management and coordination of multiple projects and technical studies

  • Fieldwork including data and sample collection for risk assessment, baseline studies, and environmental monitoring

  • Develop management plans and mitigation measures

  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and reports

  • Work effectively in both team and individual environments

Education & Certificates:

  • Advanced degree in Natural Sciences or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience

  • Membership (or eligibility) in a relevant professional association (e.g., RPBio, PAg.)

  • Class 5 drivers license with a good record

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Well-rounded professional with diverse experiences maintains strong reputation within their field(s), including but not limited to ecology, wildlife biology, environmental engineering, soil science

  • First Nation knowledge or experience an asset

  • Experience in Environmental Assessments

  • Strong business acumen

Skills & Abilities – General:

  • Well-developed multi-tasking skills, rapid learner, innovative and creative

  • Lead and work effectively with others, with a positive approach

  • Problem solve and make new plans as circumstances dictate

  • A high level of physical fitness is a requirement for fieldwork

Skills & Abilities – Field:

  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of terrestrial wildlife sampling techniques

  • Demonstrated experience organizing, coordinating, and executing terrestrial wildlife field sampling (including following protocols, recording data accurately and consistently, logistics planning)

  • Experience preparing field reports, summarizing data collected

  • Experience managing field data, performing data entry, organizing databases and other files for analysis

  • Manage field equipment

Working Conditions

The candidate must be able to complete work in the field including spending nights away from home as required. Ability to work unsupervised, in an office or field setting. Remote work in the field may occur; safety precautions and company protocols must be strictly adhered to. Evening and weekend work may be necessary at times based on workload.
