Tipi Mountain Eco-Cultural Services
We are proud to formally announce the establishment of the new consulting company Tipi
Mountain Eco-Cultural Services (TMECS) in the field of archaeology, allowing work to
be completed under the BC Heritage Conservation Act (HCA). This business will be led
by Robert Williams with assistance from Ian Tamasi, experienced archaeology field
technicians and the greater team. Tipi Mountain Eco-Cultural Services also has a
network of experienced senior archaeologists to draw on for highly complex and largescale
projects. Our aim is to provide service-oriented top quality archaeological
consulting in the East Kootenay and surrounding areas.
Tipi Mountain Eco-Cultural Services welcomes Ian Tamasi, BSc., a registered
archaeologist with eight years of experience in the Kootenays and surrounding regions.
He is a local resident that is able to complete both HCA permitted and non-permitted
archaeological work in BC. He is dedicated, and a strong advocate of conducting
archaeology in a scientifically based and precise manner. His knowledge and expertise
is a great benefit to TMECS, and truly a welcome addition to the team.
Tipi Mountain Eco-Cultural Services is an independent company working closely with
Keefer Ecological Services Ltd. (KES), the 49 percent minority owner of TMECS. The
companies share a tightly organized administration system that allows for efficient and
fiscally responsible operations. The KES team provides a network of highly talented
environmental professionals including a Professional Agrologist, Professional Engineer
and Registered Professional Biologist as well as junior professionals, a GIS technician
and a financial professional. The KES team regularly writes and edits major technical
documents of top quality and will share in its reporting and data management systems.
KES also supports TMECS with its’ safety management systems and related
equipment. Physical resources at KES include new/recent computer hardware/software,
sub-60 metre GPS units, handheld GPS units, high resolution Nikon Cameras and a
variety of other equipment. KES is completing a two thousand square foot office
expansion in a timber framed eco-building.
TMECS is an Aboriginal majority-owned business with access to traditional knowledge
that will assist in background research and the creation of fact-based reports. The
majority owner, Robert Williams is a talented archaeological, GIS and Ktunaxa oral
history expert. TMECS will employ local and qualified archaeologists and field
technicians who are familiar with the region that will work closely with the BC
Archaeology Branch and First Nation Councils to adhere to their policies and
procedures. TMECS will have competitive charge out rates and be able to compete on
small to large-scale projects in a timely, professional and effective manner.
